Natural Care of Skin: 4 Ways to Keep Skin Youthful, Smooth, and Healthy

By Caroline Richie

There's no question that the natural care of skin is the safest way to take care of your skin. But did you know that it's also one of the most EFFECTIVE ways of keeping skin youthful, smooth, and healthy too? This article will share 4 simple things you can do to provide your skin with the all-natural nourishment it needs to stay healthy and age-free.

#1. Take a close look at the ingredient list of the products you use to make sure they do not contain any harmful or questionable ingredients.
You'd be SHOCKED to learn how many skin care products on today's market contain harsh and irritating ingredients. Many companies choose to use alternatives to more effective ingredients in order to keep their production costs down. But unfortunately, many of these alternatives can cause more harm to your skin than actually help.

For example, mineral oils (or paraffin) are one of the most commonly used moisturizers in the skin care industry because of how cheap it is to obtain. Why is it so cheap? Because it's a byproduct of the petroleum industry! What's worse is that they have been shown to clog the pores, making it hard for the skin to eliminate harmful toxins. And they also strip away the natural oils from the skin, causing constant chapping and dryness.

#2. Use a day cream or lotion containing some sort of sunscreen or SPF protection so you are protected from the sun's damaging UV rays.
I know that most of us like to have a good tan, but that's no reason to refrain from wearing some sort of sunscreen when outside for extended periods of time. The sun's UV rays DAMAGE the skin, there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. They create free radicals in the skin, which in turn speed up the rate at which your skin cells break down.

Just so you know: you CAN still get a tan while protecting yourself from the sun. There are strengths of SPF that can still allow for a tan while blocking out many of the UV rays that cause skin damage. Using a day cream (the one you apply right in the morning after cleansing) with SPF protection is a great way to provide this protection and naturally take care of skin.

#3. Give your skin an extra DEEP cleansing twice a month in needs to maximize the results you get from the skin care products you use daily.
After a while, the pores on your face need a deep-cleansing in order for the skin to experience the full benefits that skin care products offer. By removing all of the dirt and grime that builds up in your pores, the ingredients in skin care products will be able to penetrate deep into the skin to improve it's condition. This is a very critical step that everyone should incorporate into their skin care regime.

#4. Make sure the skincare creams and lotions you use contain ingredients that target the main causes of aging.
Sadly, not enough skin care creams and lotions today support the natural care of skin. Not only do most products contain synthetic ingredients and questionable byproducts from other industries, but many also lack key active ingredients that address the most common causes of skin aging. More than anything, these four issues should be addressed by ALL of the skin care products you use if you want to prolong the skin-aging process:

*Reduced production of collagen and elastin within the skin
*Poor hydration levels in the skin
*Damage caused by free radicals and other sources of oxidative stress
*Increased levels of inflammation and skin irritation
